In some cases, benefits could be reduced
Major changes will be introduced to help people on low incomes. On Friday, September 23, the government announced that there will be new changes put in place for people receiving Universal Credit.
Around 120,000 claimants will need to take steps to seek more and better-paid work to avoid having their benefits reduced. Those aged over 50 will be given extra time with their work coaches to help combat the economic activity in the over 50s.This activity is reportedly "contributing to shortages in the jobs market, driving up inflation and limiting growth".
"Today, we have cut stamp duty, we have allowed businesses to keep more of their own money to invest, to innovate, and to grow, we have cut income tax and national insurance for millions of workers, we are securing our place in a fiercely competitive global economy with lower rates of corporation tax and lower rates of personal tax. We promised to prioritise growth. We promised a new approach for a new era. We promised to release the enormous potential of this country.
