The deal was approved by members Thursday night with more than 70 per cent of the vote.
This was the first collective bargaining agreement between the Calgary-based airline and the union since employees organized in. They had been negotiating since October. The agreement goes into effect on Sept. 1 and will expire on Dec. 31, 2026. “It’s been nine months at the bargaining table, but we’re really happy we have a deal and we’re going to continue to build a relationship with WestJet,” said Scott Doherty, lead negotiator and executive assistant to Unifor’s national president.
