Truro community helping newcomers fleeing war-torn country

Oksana Hatlan recently fled her home country of Ukraine. Meeting her host, Alison Graham, was like"meeting a sister." Without knowing when the war will end, her plan is to remain for at least the next two years and hopes her children can integrate into the school and community. In Ukraine, schooling is currently online.

Murray and her husband hosted the family after they finally arrived on June 23. Generous community members filled their two garages with donations for them and other Ukrainians. “We'll just get them here and we'll work out in the end, deal with it after the fact, because so many administrative things bog down the system,” said Keddy.
