The Foreign Office has issued a fresh travel warning for UK holidaymakers heading to Greece, advising them to remain vigilant after security measures were heightened at popular tourism spots. On June 24, its updated advice included cautions regarding crime, local laws, and potential protests due to developments in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
It further iterates, "There is currently a heightened risk of such protests, particularly in central Athens. Stay aware of your surroundings, stay away from protests and follow the advice of local authorities.", reports Birmingham Live. The Foreign Office has issued a fresh update for Brits travelling to Greece, warning: "Some demonstrations in the past have turned violent. Avoid demonstrations wherever possible and move away to the last known safe place. Security forces often use tear gas to break up demonstrations, which can harm your breathing and vision."
For those planning to drive, the British government advises keeping valuables hidden and vehicles locked, especially when parked in public areas.
