Heli-skiing operator CMH Nomads said two guests and a guide were caught in the avalanche. The two guests were fully buried and had to be located using transceivers, said CMH president Rob Rohn in a statement. Both were unresponsive and were pronounced dead in hospital. The guide was transferred by ambulance to Kelowna General Hospital and is in stable condition.B.C. Emergency Health Services said first responders were called Monday afternoon after a separate slide near Cherryville east of Vernon. One person was taken to hospital.
The avalanche risk in southeast B.C., where both slides occurred Monday, is rated “considerable.” Further north in the eastern B.C. mountain ranges it is listed as “very dangerous.”Share this article in your social network
