Toronto Mayor John Tory announced on Thursday that as part of the City’s Vision Zero Road Safety Plan, 25 Automated Speed Enforcement cameras are being deployed, with one going to each ward. These come in addition to the 50“We now have 75 speed cameras across the city and I remain fully committed to installing a total of 150 cameras this term,” Tory said.
According to the City, the number of traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries has declined since the inception of the Vision Zero program, which has also included initiatives such as installing speed bumps, creating School Safety Zones, adding pedestrian head starts to 1,000 intersections, and installing more red light cameras.
