Tongaat residents plead for swift housing solutions
A number of houses had their roofs blown off as a result of the tornado. Tongaat residents living in temporary shelters want urgent government intervention to rebuild their homes. .
The storm, which locals described as a tornado, wreaked havoc in Tongaat, killing at least seven people, leaving over 200 others injured and damaging thousands of homes in the area. Those who have been unable to return to their homes have been living in tents for the past three weeks and surviving through assistance from the government, donors and non-governmental organisations.
