The Seattle fans even mockingly chanted “Miner, Miner, Miner,” at points, likely a response to Vancouver backers doing something similar to Thunderbirds netminder Roddy Ross in Game 1.Sourdif outThe Giants were without right-winger Justin Sourdif, the standout rookie who took a cross-check to the back of the head from Seattle defenceman Jake Lee while on a breakaway with six seconds remaining in Vancouver’s 7-1 Game 1 victory on Friday.
Sourdif spent the majority of the regular season playing on a line with Milos Roman and Brayden Watts. There were stretches where they led Vancouver forwards in minutes played. Lee is getting some buzz for this coming summer’s NHL Draft at Rogers Arena. NHL Central Scouting had him as the No. 78 North American skater in their midterm rankings in January. Ross reboundsRoss, who got the hook after giving up six goals in Game 1, was sharp Saturday, making 39 saves. Miner stopped 25.Jadon Joseph made it 2-1 when he tallied for Vancouver at 18:10 of the first period.
