In his written decision on sentencing, released on Wednesday, Jan. 25, Gorman said assaults that occur in relationships are not diminished by the ages of the offender or the victim. “Even when a young offender commits a serious offence, a youth court judge must concentrate on rehabilitation and the long-term effect of the sentence imposed.”
X testified at trial that B became upset when she stood up to answer a phone call. While she was talking on the phone, he grabbed her head and banged it against a wall and then on the table. A pre-sentence report indicated the teen wants to make amends for his crimes and he hoped to be sentence to community service. The report said he is willing to do whatever he is tasked with doing.
