Sundowns are the only South African side playing in the competition, and will face Petro de Luanda of Angola in the quarterfinals.
The first leg will be played in Angola on October 21 and the second leg three days later at Loftus Stadium.

Sundowns and Petro are two of eight teams playing in the AFL, with a prize of US$4 million up for grabs for the winners. The other six teams are Al Ahly, Wydad Casablance, Esperance de Tunis, Simba of Tanzania, TP Mzambe from Dr Congo and Enyimba from Nigeria.
