Stranger Things season 5 will bring back a character briefly seen in season 1, and this points to the show’s final season solving a huge Hopper mystery. After four successful seasons with many twists and shocking reveals, Stranger Things is ending with its fifth season, and there are still many mysteries to solve.
At the time of the events of Stranger Things season 1, Hopper had secluded himself and was struggling to cope with Sara’s loss. On top of that, Sara’s death led to the end of his marriage, so he was now completely alone.
The flashback then cut to the reveal of Sara’s cancer diagnosis, as well as Hopper and Diane’s efforts to give her the best life they could. As much as Hopper tried to be brave in front of Sara, he would break down in the stairwell of the hospital. Sara passed away in 1978 at the hospital, as doctors did their best to bring her back in front of her parents.
