Residents in informal settlements in Nomzamo, Strand have raised are worried about several pools of smelly sewage and piles of rubbish strewn across open spaces near their homes.

They are worried that the highly polluted environment would have a negative impact on young children or the elderly in the community.

Ralarala said that each time a drain blocks, the City of Cape Town does come out to fix the problem, but three days later the same drain is blocked again.
