Robinson will defend his player all the way but doesn't want to give the disgusting comments any credit.

Angry Stephen Robinson says the alleged abuse suffered by Gallagher Lennon is "unacceptable" - but he'd rather focus on the youngster's football than give credence to sickening taunts.

Police are probing claims that the 18-year-old was subject to abuse from one of his OWN fans while playing for Dumbarton, where he is on loan from St Mirren. It's claimed taunts referenced bullets in the post and death threats, which his dad Neil received while Celtic manager. His mum Irene reported the disgusting comments to the club after overhearing them in the away end during their game with East Fife at Methil on Saturday.

Dumbarton put out a statement supporting the youngster, who has been a standout in defence for the League Two since his January move from Saints. Buddies boss Robinson says the alleged comments are completely unacceptable and has reiterated that to the player's family. But he'd rather focus on his blossoming football career than anything else.

Robinson said: "It's not acceptable. I have spoken to Gall, he'll have all of our support as always. I've spoken to his family and they know my thoughts. "What we should be talking about with Gallagher is he's the captain of the Northern Ireland U19s, he's been fantastic for Dumbarton, and they've handled the situation very well. I'd rather talk about how well he is doing as a young player rather than give credit to anything else."
