State workers are set to vote on a government offer of a 5. 5% salary increase, as unions negotiate additional benefits and allowances amid ongoing salary disputes.

Additional adjustments will be increased in line with the consumer price index , which according to Statistics South Africa increased to 3% last month.This means that if the CPI is below 4%, public servants will receive a 4% increase and should it be above 6%, the increase will be 6%.Other increases include the special danger allowance from R931.82 to R950.

The PSA told its members this week that the government and unions agreed to resolve other demands through separate processes and a collective agreement.
