Despite calls from civil society organizations, the Lagos State Government has yet to file an appeal against the Court of Appeal's judgment that overturned Dr. Femi Olaleye's rape conviction. The Court of Appeal cited issues with the lower court's judgment and deemed the prosecution's evidence unreliable, leading to Dr. Olaleye's acquittal. CSOs have urged the Attorney General to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court, but sources within the Ministry of Justice confirm no plans for an appeal have been made.

The appellate court deemed the evidence provided by the prosecution to be"tainted" and"unreliable," leading to Dr. Olaleye's acquittal. Addressing newsmen recent at the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, office in Lagos, Josephine Effah-Chukwuma, founder of Project Alert, read the petition submitted to the Attorney-General.
