The St. John’s native was named the head coach for the Saint John Sea Dogs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in an announcement by the team on Friday. “Coming off our Memorial Cup run I look forward to building upon and honouring the Sea Dogs’ success by developing the next wave of Sea Dogs athletes on the ice and young men off the ice. I also endeavour to create a lasting legacy as a community-focused coach,” Crickard said in a statement.The announcement came a few days after Crickard spent some time in his hometown with the Memorial Cup. While home, he took the cup to some hockey camps and to the Royal St.
Before heading to Saint John, Crickard’s Canadian Hockey League experience included coaching stops with the Kelowna Rockets and the Ottawa 67s. In 2015, he went to the Memorial Cup final with the Rockets.
