The photos taken by the James Webb Space Telescope were publicly revealed Monday in what science history professor Robert Smith called a “spectacular coming out party.”
“The expectation is we’ll be able to see more deeply into the universe to see the very first stars that were formed.” Once in outer space, the telescope’s 18 mirror segments could be unfolded to their combined six-metre diameter.
