Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Greater Sudbury area, warning of heavy downpours and the possibility of flash floods and and water pooling on roads
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for Greater Sudbury and the vicinity warning heavy downpours today and this evening could spark flash flood and localized flooding to low-lying areas.
Heavy rain is expected this afternoon and into the early evening. Local rainfall amounts of between 20 and 40 mm are possible. Heavy downpours like this have the potential to cause flash flooding and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is also possible. The source of the possible heavy downpowers, showers and thunderstorms is a cold front that is moving through the area, Environment Canada said in the statement.
“Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or tweet reports using #ONStorm.”
