Over half of the vehicles competing in this year's Dakar Rally were manufactured in South Africa, with Toyota Hilux bakkies clinching the first and second place spots. Six of the top ten cars were also South African-made, showcasing the country's automotive prowess.

Meanwhile Ford was the other big vehicle maker to feature in the top ten, with the Ford Raptor driving Swedes Mattias Ekström and Emil Bergkvist to third place.
