“We’ve had some great successes the last number of years in volleyball, and it’s certainly a growing sport in Souris,' said Margo Robertson, head coach of the Souris senior AA girls.

“We’ve been advocating for a double-A league for a couple of years because we are such a small school we really fluctuate,” said Robertson, who went on to say the Spartans played a lot of competitive matches, including some five-setters, at the double-A level. “We are too strong for A, but we weren’t really sure how we would compete in AAA because of our size.
“We were pretty pumped to get a double-A league this year,” said Chaisson, who was named the most valuable player of the 2020 provincial championship. “We played triple-A last year and it was very competitive for us but losing some players we knew it was going to be challenging going into AAA again.
“It took away some of the stronger teams that might have been playing A and gave some of the other teams a better chance ,” said Robertson. “There is quite a diversity of talent in the A league; it’s a very, very large league and there is a wide range of talent.”
