Margaret Clow, a Montague resident, says students attending Montague Regional High School had to climb over trees and walk through the woods on their way to school for almost a month after a trail was blocked by fallen trees in the wake of post-tropical storm Fiona. - Logan MacLeanMONTAGUE, P.E.I. — Margaret Clow didn’t want to see any of the kids get hurt and set out to find solutions to a safety problem. What she found instead was jurisdictional buck-passing.
The trail was still blocked when SaltWire Network spoke with Clow on Oct. 25. But, by the time a reporter got to Montague for pictures, the trail was clear. Clow was pleased to see the work finally done but said it took much too long. And another issue still remained: with so many trees uprooted, there were holes along the side of the trail.
The PSB does not own the land and, while the branch is not responsible for cleaning property owned by others, PSB staff do clear up their own land when it has debris, Redmond said.
