It's been an eventful day due to snow in Lancs
Snow and ice caused disruption on several roads in Lancashire today, with police issuing warnings to take care after a number of crashes in the area.
One person also had to be pulled out of the wreckage of a single-vehicle collision on Mythop Road, Weeton at around 8.30am this morning. Police, firefighters and paramedics attended the incident.A Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Three fire engines from Blackpool, Wesham and South Shore attended a road traffic collision on Mythop Road, Weeton. The incident involved one vehicle.
One onlooker described the driving conditions as 'extremely icy and snowing' at the scene, just before junction 8 in the direction of Manchester near Chorley. Several cars also became trapped on Manchester Road in Accrington this afternoon. Police urged motorists to avoid the area and called in gritters to help make the road driveable. Police posted on Facebook: "Please can we make you aware that Manchester Road, Accrington is grid locked due to vehicles stuck in the snow and ice. We have requested highways attend to Grit the road. Please avoid this area and take care whilst driving.
