Steve Smith in danger of missing the third Test after heavy knock on day four at Lord's more here
Smith had returned to bat briefly on the previous afternoon after being struck on the neck by a bouncer from Jofra ArcherAustralia coach Justin Langer said he had resumed batting after passing a series of head injury assessments but after further tests on Sunday morning he was withdrawn from the match just before the fifth's day play began."I started to feel a little bit of a headache coming on last night, probably as the adrenaline got out of my system," Smith said.
"I didn't have any real pain in my neck yesterday when I touched it or when anyone else touched it. Today I do have a bit of pain there, whether that's some swelling or what I'm not sure. Perhaps that's leading to me having a headache and feeling a bit groggy." “Steve has been closely monitored by medical staff overnight and this morning reported that after sleeping well, he woke with ‘a bit of a headache and a feeling of grogginess’,” said an Australia team spokesman.
“In terms of Steve’s availability for the third Test, this will be considered over the coming days but the short turnaround to the next Test is not in his favour. Steve’s fitness will be assessed on an ongoing basis. Steve will undergo a precautionary scan on his neck on Sunday.” "I think I, along with a few other players in the team, find it a little bit different, uncomfortable compared to what we’re used to. I feel a little bit claustrophobic when it’s on," he said.
