M1 will retire its 3G network starting Aug 1 as it has fully migrated all its 3G subscribers to 4G/5G services.

New: You can now listen to articles. In a press release on Wednesday , the Infocomm Media Development Authority said that it had been tracking the progress of mobile network operators' efforts to phase out their 3G services.

If"smooth migration" is achieved, Singtel and StarHub plan to begin retiring their 3G networks from November 2024, IMDA said on Wednesday.99.9 per cent of Singapore's mobile subscribers are already on 4G/5G, IMDA said, adding that 3G subscribers make up less than 0.1 per cent. The telco has been actively reaching out to customers to assist them with migration over the last two years, Ms Yip said.

In a statement, a StarHub spokesperson said that the extension will afford its affected customers"ample time" to transition from 3G to 4G/5G networks.
