Cliff Fletcher had a rather basic but effective way of analyzing the teams he managed \u002D either during the season or after the season.
In the pre-salary cap days of the NHL, trading was a much more adventurous and occasionally outrageous activity than it is today. In Fletcher’s career, he was among the best dealers in the business, trading for the following players, all of whom wound up in the Hall of Fame with him: Doug Gilmour, Mats Sundin, Lanny McDonald, Grant Fuhr, Joey Mullen and Glenn Anderson. The only great ones he traded away: Brett Hull and Larry Murphy.
