Property group, RE/MAX said that selling your home during the December break can be challenging.
RE/MAX said that homeowners need to remember that many families are on vacation or hosting festive gatherings and this limits the amount of interest you may get in prospective buyers. The Deeds Office typicallyRE/MAX said that last year the Deeds Office was closed from 22 December 2023 to 2 January and a similar closure period can be expected for this year.
“It is important to speak to your chosen real estate professional to find out what their availability will be over the festive season,” he explained. “Plan fun outings with your children to keep them entertained and out of the house. If budgets are tight, consider free or affordable activities such as a day at the park, the beach, or a visit to a relative’s house,” he said.
“Usually, when selling, the advice is to declutter and depersonalise the home. This can be tricky over the festive break. At a minimum, try to avoid over-the-top decorations that may distract buyers from seeing the home’s potential,” Goslett advised.
