A Spanish company that provided in-home care for the elderly has been shut down for allegedly defrauding wealthy British citizens who did not speak Spanish and had no family to protect them.
Spanish Civil Guard officers display some of the cash they seized from a company accused of defrauding elderly British clients.Police said the two suspects targeted elderly wealthy British clients who did not speak Spanish and had no family. "According to the investigation, the suspect would have managed to get the victim to agree to provide her consent, such as joint ownership of bank accounts or the execution of a will in her favor, all of which was verified by the investigators through the compilation of minutes, notaries, wills and other types of personal documentation," police said.
