SHAMEFUL TREATMENT REVEALED: How Stormers snubbed RWC-winning Springbok via text message

‘You are not welcome anymore. Find a new place.’ — That was part of a text message sent by the Stormers to Springbok hooker Schalk Brits.

Multi-faceted former Springbok World Cup winner Schalk Brits has made a shocking revelation on why he signed with the Bulls instead of his beloved Stormers back in 2019.

The Stormers moved quickly to secure the services of the stalwart hooker, but the agreed upon deal fell through as it coincided with the union’s financial struggles. The Bulls then beat everyone else to the punch to get Brits to put pen to paper and join them. “Nobody could ever understand why I signed with the Bulls,” the Springbok said. “After moving my entire family from Saracens and coming out of retirement, I was told that I was no longer wanted by the Stormers.”

When quizzed on which South African team — between the Bulls and Stormers — he now supports, said loyalty ‘cuts both ways’.
