JOHANNESBURG - The South African Weather Service has issued a level two warning for severe thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon in five provinces including Gauteng.
The harsh weather, which is expected to bring about damaging winds and the possibility of localised flooding in some areas is also expected to affect Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, North West, and parts of the Free State. The warning comes as mop-up operations are underway in Nongoma after the province was hit by heavy rains on Friday, causing major structural damage to homes and schools.Forecaster Lehlohonolo Thobela:
"These possible severe thunderstorms are expected to bring about some structural damages with the storms. Not leaving out the possibility of hail in some areas depending on the severity of the storm."
