The mishaps in the country's hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games could have been prevented if the funds have been used properly, President Duterte said Monday.

The mishaps in the country’s hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian Games could have been prevented if the funds have been used properly, President Duterte said Monday.

“I am not attributing it to anybody but you know it’s a huge fund and there ought not to have problems like even logistics and things. Because you can do it, not really with precision, but had you made most of the money then you could have avoided the critical situations, the mishaps,” he said in an interview over GMA’s morning program “Unang Hirit” aired Monday.

The biennial sports tournament has recently been marred by logical lapses that inconvenienced the athletes such as transport and hotel delays. The Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee led by House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano has been under fire for allegedly mishandling the logistics of the P6-billion event.
