Officer numbers are now at their lowest since Police Scotland was created in 2013.
That means a well-run and well-resourced police service is a prerequisite. .
Most of the public will accept that modern policing has changed. It’s no longer realistic to expect an officer on every street corner. But now it seems even these promises are under threat as inflation hammers policing budgets and cutbacks follow.Otherwise the national constabulary risks losing public confidence and lives will be put at risk.
