Yasmin Smith, from Danderhall in Midlothian, had been searching for her pet Gin before a local posted on social media to say a cat had been hit by a vehicle nearby.
A Scots mum has been left heartbroken after her beloved cat was found dumped in a bin after he was apparently hit by a car.
She was then left heartbroken when her dad, who had joined to help with the search, discovered the cat's body in a bin. Yasmin told Edinburgh Live: "I'm absolutely devastated. Whoever done this to my poor cat is disgusting. "We had to get him out of there he had already passed and not in a good state. I had been shouting on Gin the whole night and out looking for him and did not realise for one minute he was in a public bin right next to my house."
