Clayton emphasized the dangers of using fireworks near the mountain, citing safety concerns and the difficulty of providing assistance in the dark.
She also explained that the fynbos ecology of the region is highly susceptible to fires, which can quickly escalate into uncontrollable wildfires. Clayton pointed to a fire near Signal Hill last year, ignited by fireworks, as an example of the potential consequences. She warned that individuals using fireworks in the park could face fines
