A 65-year-old hiker was rescued after falling eight meters down Grotto Ravine on Table Mountain. Wilderness Search And Rescue (WSAR) and an Air Mercy Service (AMS) helicopter were involved in the operation.
Wilderness Search And Rescue ( WSAR ) responded to Table Mountain after a 65-year-old hiker fell while scrambling up Grotto Ravine above Camps Bay. The seasoned hiker and his hiking partner were making their way up the steep ravine when he suddenly slipped and tumbled eight metres down the mountainside. A small team on board the Western Cape Government Health and Wellness EMS / Air Mercy Service (AMS) rescue helicopter were flown to the scene and hoisted down to a point near the injured hiker.
He was assessed and treated by a Western Cape Government Health and Wellness EMS paramedic before being carefully assisted into a rescue stretcher
