South Africa has updated its risk of being used as a hub for terrorist financing from moderate to high as the Islamic State makes inroads into southern Africa, the Financial Intelligence Centre has warned.

The FIC, which gathers and analyses information to combat financial crime and money laundering, said in athat the country's current terrorist financing threat"emanates predominantly from the IS, its affiliates, its supporters, and its ideology".
