SA football mourns passing of Orlando Pirates' great Phil Jones
The late Phil Setshedi, in an all-black attire, celebrates with Orlando Pirates players and staff during the club's annexure of the league title in the 2002/03 season.South African football has been plunged into mourning again with former Orlando Pirates manager Phil “Mr Jones” Setshedi, the latest of yesteryear legends, to pass on, the club confirmed on Thursday.
The older generation remembers him for his glowing football career as one of the respected local defenders in the 1970s, including leading the Bucs to the Mainstay Cup in that era. However, these achievements were somewhat overshadowed by the controversies that later followed Setshedi.
