Members of the Royal Family will spend Christmas at Sandringham House, keeping their tradition of opening their Christmas presents the night before and there's a reason for it
Members of the Royal Family will spend Christmas at Sandringham House in Norfolk with their annual trip to church and a host of festive traditions. One of which is opening their presents on Christmas Eve, a tradition they've held for years. King Charles and Queen Camilla will be hosting Christmas this year, joined by their families including Prince William and Kate Middleton along with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Robert explained to The Express: "Royals have done it every year since. On Christmas Eve when all the clan are together, the Queen’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren put the finishing touches to the 20ft Christmas tree in the White Drawing Room. Presents will be opened that day at teatime as the royals still keep to the German practice of opening their gifts on Christmas Eve."
Robert went on to say that once "everyone has arrived" the family enjoy "a traditional Christmas" which involves the gifting of "cheap and humorous gifts." He added that the gifts are "unlikely to be pricey". Adding: "Traditionally the adults give one another fairly daft presents. But I bet William and Kate will want to treat each other to something quite special after such a busy and successful year."
