Friday's home date with the 3-10 Edmonton Elks could not come at a better time for the 6-7 Saskatchewan Roughriders, who are on a 2-6 skid.
As a former offensive lineman himself, you would think that an O’Day-managed team would be strong — or at least serviceable — in a facet of the game that was his forte as a player.
But, as has been the Roughriders’ custom since 2014, they could not take the final step and make it to — let alone win — the Grey Cup.Under O’Day and head coach The Roughriders of 2022 aren’t nearly as competitive, as evidenced by Saturday’s shellacking. The 54 points allowed were the most by Saskatchewan since a 62-7 loss to the host Montreal Alouettes on Aug. 3, 2000.
On a positive note, the Roughriders do have two games left against a team that currently has three victories — the Tiger-Cats and, of course, the Elks.
