Sir Bert Massie Way has now been unveiled in Knotty Ash
A Liverpool disability rights campaigner who helped set up the Equality and Human Rights Commission has been memorialised in the city he proudly called home.
His wife Lady Maureen joined Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram and Cllr Barbara Murray at a special unveiling ceremony.READ MORE: DWP's second round of Cost of Living Payment dates announced He served as chairman of the Disability Rights Commission from 2000 to 2007 and was founding commissioner of its successor, the Equality and Human Rights Commission. He was awarded an OBE in 1984, a CBE in 2000, followed by a knighthood for services to disabled people seven years later.
“I hope they’re proud of the place they live in, as proud as I am of my late husband. It's been six years, which seems to have disappeared in a very short space of time.”
