Patrol officers remained at the scene at 4.30pm
The crash occurred on Rodney Street near the junction of Knight Street at around 2.30pm. Pictures sent to the ECHO show one red car has been badly damaged in the crash, while a silver car also appeared to have damage to the front of the vehicle.
A Merseyside Police spokesman said the incident resulted in "minor injury", but it is unclear how many people were injured or whether these were drivers or passengers. as they waited for the vehicles to be recovered.
