Ferran Torres returned and Ousmane Dembele started on the bench, with Raphinha in for the Frenchman as Barca restored Gerard Pique ahead of the injured Andreas Christensen.

Barcelona remained on the front-foot and made the breakthrough before the 20-minute mark after Celta failed to clear a cross in the area and allowed Pedri to enter and tuck in from close-range. Celta’s very first opening came towards halftime when Jorgen Strand Larsen managed to get on the end of a fast-paced counter-attack and drag an effort wide from an inviting angle.

Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez put on a triple change midway following the second half, with Dembele on for Raphinha and Ansu Fati recalled for Torres before Pedri made way for Frenkie De Jong.
