Riders won\u0027t return if they don\u0027t feel safe, TTC local union head says

The horrific death of Vanessa Kurpiewska, 31, stabbed in an apparent random attack along with another female transit user on Dec. 8, has raised more questions about safety on the system. Individuals who are underhoused or lacking mental health supports have turned to the TTC system with some people taking over sections of vehicles or stations, he said.
Mayor John Tory is committed to addressing violence and harassment on the TTC system, a statement from his office says.
