Afterwards one of them made a chilling comment: 'He's dead, let's go'
The murderers of Ricardo Cotteral did not just want to kill him but disfigure him as well - to send some message to those who might survive the incident, a court heard. Wounds were inflicted in his face, in what a judge described as being a "careful killing of him in cold blood and perpetrated by grown men".Cotteral lost his life in the early hours of April 24 last year as bystanders in a bustling area of the Lace Market looked on in horror.
"Yet again the streets of Nottingham were awash with blood - I wish I could say it is a rare occurrence. It isn't." The group drove into Nottingham in separate vehicles and all finished up at the Wax Bar, Broad Street, Lace Market. The judge said it was perfectly clear they were waiting for something to happen, which was the arrival of Cotteral. The judge found it as fact they knew he was coming into town and knew potentially he was not alone.
Cotteral did not arrive alone Cotteral did not arrive alone and did not go into the Wax Bar. After the group were signalled by Lavelle Moore, they were all outside, and Cotteral was shepherded up the street. Lavelle Moore was not involved in the violence directly but was ready and willing and able to assist in its undertaking, the court heard.
