Diamonds manager could get his first piece of silverware as a boss at the age of just 31 when his side take on Welsh champions TNS in the SPFL Trust Trophy Final tomorrow.
Rhys McCabe admits a youthful euphoria robbed him of any memory of his dream Old Firm debut as a teenager. Now, almost exactly 12 years on from that 3-2 win over Celtic at Ibrox, the former Rangers midfielder is determined to savour every moment of his first cup final as a rookie manager.
McCabe, whose only winners’ medal as a player came with a League One triumph at Dunfermline eight years ago, said: "In terms of silverware, this would trump everything. "Ultimately you want to remember it all. It goes by in a flash. Hopefully the boys can look back on it and properly remember everything about it, rather than just looking back at that game like I do.
His side are sitting in the play-off spots for promotion to the top flight too and the midfielder, who scored in two previous rounds of this competition including against Rangers B, said: “It would be a great accolade for myself personally.
