Fire known as Wawa 3 is about 5,770 hectares and not yet under control, ministry says
A restricted fire zone has been declared effective Thursday, June 1, at 12:01 a.m. due to the extreme forest fire hazard in parts of northern Ontario, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says.
Meanwhile, a large fire near Wawa has been deemed not yet under control. Wawa 3, which began on May 27, is 5,770 hectares, Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services for the Northeast Fire Region said Wednesday evening. Meanwhile, communities to the north were being warned about poor air quality due to smoke from forest fires.
