Shifting into recovery phase
The Municipality of Tweed emergency control group continues to meet and is shifting into a recovery phase. There are several volunteer organizations that will be in the area next week to assist the most vulnerable – the uninsured, under insured, elderly, and those with accessibility needs. These organizations will be able to assist with some repairs and property clean up. To request support, residents can emailThe reception centre will be open Friday at the Tweed Arena at 297 St.
Byers Enterprises will accept any brush and trees for disposal for $60/tonne. They are located at 67 Hawkins Bay Road. For anyone having issues with their insurance company, please note the following information from the Insurance Bureau of Canada “For those that have been affected that require assistance/have questions about insurance, they can contact their insurance representative or IBC’s Consumer Information Centre at 1-844-227-5422 or via emailPublic works is still working in the area continuing to clear brush, but all roads are open. According to the Hydro One Storm Centre, all power has been restored to the area.
The current fire status is high, and as a result of the of the tornado there is a significantly increased risk of wildfires. Please be extremely careful if you are doing any burning and check the municipal website daily to see if a burn ban has been put in place.
