OPINION | While we can't always trust what the polls say, there is no doubt that the ANC is in decline, writes Ralph Mathekga.

The latest polling from Ipsos indicates that the ANC's support could dwindle to below 40% if an election is held within a day. This has been received with mixed reactions, with many being shocked at how the party would drop support so suddenly. Even with my conservative view on polling there is no doubt the ANC is in decline as problems are becoming compounded. The party is experiencing a crisis on multiple fronts, from besieged leaders across factions to its inability to respond to challenges experienced in society as government capacity further declines.
