Radiohead just took on ransom hackers—and won

Rock band Radiohead has admitted it was hacked last week, with attackers making off with unreleased material and reportedly demanding a ransom payment of $150,000 in exchange for not releasing it.

The band’s response was admirable. Instead of paying the $150,000, it released the album named Minidisks [Hacked] online in aid of a climate change charity. on the music platform Bandcamp. The suggested price is $23, but fans can pay more if they wish. It isn’t the first time Radiohead has released music in an unconventional way. In October 2007, the digital version of the band’s albumGreenwood’s Facebook post reads: “Instead of complaining - much - or ignoring it, we’re releasing all 18 hours on Bandcamp in aid of Extinction Rebellion. So, for £18 you can find out if we should have paid that ransom.”
