The one thing we can all agree on is this: there are valuable lessons to be learned from Canada’s responses to COVID\u002D19.
At the same time, several interest groups with a common desire to improve Canada’s response to future health crises have called for a national, independent, citizen-led inquiry into Canada’s response to COVID-19 and have banded together to organize such an Inquiry. A panel website will invite experts and members of the public to provide their input on the key question: “What changes should be made, if any, to the laws of Alberta to better equip the province to cope with future public health emergencies?”Article content Unfortunately, the political climate in Canada — indeed, in North America — is such that almost any proposal for public action, no matter by whom and no matter on what subject, is initially greeted with a welter of partisan sniping, negative criticism and a plethora of comments and tweets as to why the proposed action is ill-considered, wrongly motivated, not worth doing, bound to fail, etc., etc., etc.
