One Premier League executive has named an 'appropriate' punishment that Manchester City could face if they are found guilty of breaching the Premier League's Financial Fair Play rules
One Premier League executive believes Manchester City could face a huge points deduction 'between 70 and 80 points' if they are found guilty of breaching Financial Fair Play rules. A hearing against City's 115 charges is reportedly set to begin next month.
Consequently, one executive at an unnamed Premier League club believes City could be in line for a punishment so staggering that it would almost certainly resign City to a season in the Championship. Speaking to The Athletic , the executive said: “The collective view I’ve heard is that an appropriate sanction would have to be a points deduction so substantial — we are talking here between 70 and 80 points — that it guarantees City a season in the Championship.
